Gemma & Marcus’ Crowcombe Court wedding was the sort of day that reminded me of the value and significance of professional wedding photography. The enquiry for their Crowcombe Court Wedding came in with fairly little notice, and apart from the absolute essentials, details were initially not readily available. It was only a little while before the wedding that it was revealed to me that Gemma’s Dad was, tragically, terminally ill and didn’t have much time left.
Carrie & Will’s Amadeus Wedding Photographs, London
I’ve the pleasure of witnessing a wide variety of wedding celebrations and I’m occasionally asked what I think makes a good wedding; my view is that if it’s right for the couple and their family, and it’s a fair reflection of their characters, interests and beliefs, then it’s a good day! Carrie & Will’s wedding celebration at the Amadeus in London was a superb occasion and certainly fit that criteria.

York Wedding Photographer – Best Wedding Photography of 2015
It’s such a joy to review the body of work from the year just gone. As a York Wedding Photographer, I’m instantly brought back to all of the lovely people that I’ve had the pleasure of working with, and all of the natural, fun & emotive moments that I’ve photographed. As usual, I’ve been travelling all over the UK to discretely create natural wedding photographs for my clients as well as catching up with some former clients in York who had passed my name onto friends!
It’s always exceptionally tough to narrow down the collection of favourites from the year, but I think the selection below does the year (and my wonderful clients) justice. All that’s left is to invite you to enjoy the images and to wish you the best for 2016!
Sam & Nick’s Beechenhill Farm Wedding
I always enjoy documenting weddings that use a venue that has some significance to the couple. Sam & Nick got married in the beautiful Derbyshire village of Monyash. After their church ceremony they enjoyed a lovely drinks reception down the road at Sam’s family home before travelling for their reception at Beechenhill Farm.
Hi Ian,
Thanks for Saturday, we had a fabulous time and hardly noticed you were there, we definitely agree that your way of photography is much better than all that posing etc., we had plenty of time for dancing and chatting to people which was great.
Cheers and thanks again!
There was plenty of opportunity for discrete documentary photography to help tell the story of their wedding day, as well as capturing a number of my favourite layered images.
Ema & Simon’s Eaves Hall Wedding Photographs
There are many factors to consider when choosing a wedding venue. I always love to hear when a venue has particular significance to the couple as it adds to the value of the occasion. Simon had grown up just down the road from Eaves Hall so it made for the natural choice for his wedding to Ema.
The whole day was filled with a sense of fun that radiated from Ema & Simon, it was a pleasure to be part of their day and to provide a record of the celebration of their relationship.
Lucknam Park Wedding Photography – Clare & Paul
My inaugural visit to Lucknam Park was a memorable one. Clare & Paul had assembled all of their families and friends together for a few days at the glorious hotel to celebrate their wedding.
Since everyone had arrived the night before, there was a host of activities laid on for the guests to keep them entertained in the morning (Archery, Laser Pigeon Shooting, Air Hockey & Croquet to name a few). After taking in some of the fun-fair atmosphere, I joined Clare & Paul for their preparations.
Sasha & Matt’s Vinopolis London Wedding
Vinopolis is a very unique and interesting space in which to have a wedding and made for the perfect setting for Sasha & Matt’s wedding celebrations.
I met Sasha at the Adria Boutique Hotel to document her preparations before hopping into a taxi to Vinopolis for the ceremony.
After the knot was tied and Sasha & Matt had spent a little time catching up with and being congratulated by their guests, we took a short walk around the area to capture some relaxed portraits. I feel that it’s always important to make some time for these shots & I endeavour to take them at a time that won’t cause an interruption to the couples enjoyment of the day.
After an excellent meal, plenty of fun was had with speeches and dancing.
