Sarah & Jon’s Mythe Barn Wedding Photography

I really enjoyed Sarah & Jon’s Mythe Barn Wedding, not just because it was such a light, happy and joyous celebration, but also because Sarah is an old friend from university. It was a huge honour and privilege to have such a great view as I witnessed & recorded Sarah’s marriage to Jon.

They’re a great couple, so full of life and energy. They’re also not short of exceptionally talented friends who formed a choir to sing during the ceremony.

Mythe Barn is a wonderful wedding venue with bright and airy rooms that serve as the perfect canvas for any celebration. After a beautiful ceremony, where I most definitely didn’t stifle a little tear, we quickly popped outside to grab some relaxed portraits of the newlyweds.

After a delicious meal and some great speeches, there were a number of terrific & interesting shapes to be thrown on the dance floor.

Below are a few kind words from Sarah, followed by a handful of my favourite images.

Thanks Ian, we are thrilled with all our photos! Thank you so much for all your work:-)

Wedding Photographer in Rochester – Jess & Kierran

Wedding Photographer in Rochester

rochester wedding photographer

Despite being based in York, I enjoy working all over the country. Shortly before last Christmas I had the pleasure of working as a Wedding Photographer in Rochester for Jess & Kierran.

It was the sort of celebration that really suited my relaxed documentary approach to wedding photography. There was a wonderful sense of fun, warmth and happiness throughout the day (despite the crisp December air outside). Kierran & Jess had met and developed their relationship in the pub owned by Kierran’s Dad, so it was a place that held great significance for them as a couple and made for a perfect venue for their reception.

I’ve the pleasure of witnessing a wide variety of wedding celebrations and I’m occasionally asked what I think makes a good wedding; my view is that if it’s right for the couple and their family, and it’s a fair reflection of their characters, interests and beliefs, then it’s a good day! Carrie & Will’s wedding celebration at the Amadeus in London was a superb occasion and certainly fit that criteria.

Louise & Michael’s Northbrook Park Wedding Photographs

northbrook park wedding photography
I really enjoy documenting winter weddings, the light is typically low and full of character and colour. That was certainly the case for Louise & Michael’s Northbrook Park wedding photographs. After spending a little time documenting Louise’s preparations at family home, I headed over the local church for the ceremony.

We took advantage of the beautiful low winter sun to get some relaxed portraits at Northbrook Park before returning to the warmth of the drinks reception. There was a lovely, relaxed atmosphere which really suited my laid-back and discrete approach to wedding photography. I remember some really excellent speeches with plenty of wonderful reactions from family & friends.
Dear Ian,
Thank you so much for sending the link to the photos.
It was so great to have them to show the family over Christmas and we are delighted with them.

I always enjoy documenting weddings that use a venue that has some significance to the couple. Sam & Nick got married in the beautiful Derbyshire village of Monyash. After their church ceremony they enjoyed a lovely drinks reception down the road at Sam’s family home before travelling for their reception at Beechenhill Farm.

Hi Ian,

Thanks for Saturday, we had a fabulous time and hardly noticed you were there, we definitely agree that your way of photography is much better than all that posing etc., we had plenty of time for dancing and chatting to people which was great.

Cheers and thanks again!

There was plenty of opportunity for discrete documentary photography to help tell the story of their wedding day, as well as capturing a number of my favourite layered images.

‘Gus & Julia married in the beautiful Wiltshire village of Marden. My coverage of the day began with Julia’s preparations at her family home before heading over to the nearby village church. After the ceremony, guests returned to Julia’s family home for a drinks reception. We took the opportunity to capture some relaxed portraits before the weather encouraged us into the marquee for dinner. The speeches invariably make for some great photography, both from the speakers & reactions from the guests, and these speeches didn’t disappoint!

Chris & Susie’s wedding in Sussex

reportage-wedding-photography-in-susex-026

Chris and Susie’s beautiful wedding in Sussex was such a genuine pleasure to document. Their traditional service was held at St Margaret’s church in the village of West Hoathly where the heavens truly opened after the ceremony! This was swiftly followed by a lovely champagne reception at Slaugham Place where, remarkably, the weather was nothing short of stunning.
