Natural, relaxed wedding photography at Ryedale Folk Museum

I’ve had the pleasure of capturing the special moments at weddings of all shapes and sizes, including weddings at Ryedale Folk Museum. It’s such a beautiful setting for a truly unique celebration.

My approach to wedding photography is centred on working discreetly to capture authentic moments while allowing your day to unfold naturally. I’m not invisible, but my presence is unremarkable, blending in to ensure you and your guests feel at ease. This lets me document genuine emotions, meaningful interactions, and the little details that make your wedding unique. I aim to tell the story of your day in a relaxed, unobtrusive way, so you can focus on enjoying every moment.

Your Questions About Weddings at Ryedale Folk Museum, Answered

How well do you know the museum?

I’m familiar with all the ceremony and reception locations, though I haven’t photographed celebrations in all of them, (yet!). The locations are full of character and interesting from a photography perspective, and can present some technical challenges, so it’s definitely worth asking your photographer to visit if they’re not already familiar.

Some locations can be quite dark, is that a problem?

Not at all – I’m very comfortable in working in low light situations and I love the character and charm that the museum delivers. I generally work with the available light sources in the space, and my cameras do a better job of seeing in the dark than I do, but I’ll occasionally introduce some additional light as discretely as I can if it’s absolutely necessary. It’s important for me to balance capturing quality imagery with working discretely and without distracting from the occasion.

Where’s the best place for couples portraits?

It depends 🙂 You’re not short of lovely areas for some nice portraits. When taking some time for a few relaxed couples portraits, we’ll work in a space that gives you a little bit of space from your guests (so you can have a little time for the two of you), and that offers the best light on the day (so much can change from day to day, that I never set anything in stone).
