Congleton Wedding Photography – Lou & Marc

There was something particularly special about photographing Louise & Marc’s wedding in Congleton; Lou & I used to share a table in reception class at primary school, so we go way back. Thankfully I don’t have to look at my pencil case in order to spell my name properly any more, which is progress! Since … Read more

Portfolio Series – ring-five!

Using your eyes is an obvious part of being a photographer, but any documentary photographer worth their salt will also be using their ears. It’s important to listen out for nuggets of conversations that give clues to moments that are about to unfold. Shortly after Dave married Sarah at Leatherhead register office, their assembled guests filed … Read more

Portfolio Series – layered narratives

york wedding photographer

I thoroughly enjoy the rich seam of documentary photography that’s available in the invariable lull between the end of the wedding breakfast (& speeches) and the commencement of the evening’s entertainment. It’s often during this time that I am looking to create images that contain multiple layers; something you’ll find me talking quite a lot about … Read more

Manchester Wedding Photography – Dominic & Claire

Manchester Wedding Photography

Dominic & Claire’s Wedding was an intimate celebration among their closest family & friends. I began my Manchester Wedding Photography coverage with Claire, during her preparations before heading over to the register office for the ceremony. Dominic & Claire have a close connection with the wonderful San Carlo restaurant, and their salle privée made for the perfect reception venue.

Everyone enjoyed some absolutely superb food (I can testify) before a few short speeches and then an impromptu sing-song and a little dancing on the chairs! Any eagle-eyed United fans may spot a member of the “class of ’92” amongst the guests.

My discrete and informal approach to wedding photography allowed Dominic, Claire & their guests to enjoy their celebration without any interruption or intrusion; just the way they wanted.

It was a real pleasure to document their day, below are a few of my favourites:

Portfolio Series – double narratives

There’s so much going on immediately after a wedding ceremony; I love to get stuck into the action and take in the atmosphere. At Michael & Louise’s wedding, guests were understandably excited to congratulate the newly-weds. I positioned myself behind the couple so I could read the expressions of those who had come to wish them well. … Read more

Sarah & Jon’s Mythe Barn Wedding Photography

I really enjoyed Sarah & Jon’s Mythe Barn Wedding, not just because it was such a light, happy and joyous celebration, but also because Sarah is an old friend from university. It was a huge honour and privilege to have such a great view as I witnessed & recorded Sarah’s marriage to Jon.

They’re a great couple, so full of life and energy. They’re also not short of exceptionally talented friends who formed a choir to sing during the ceremony.

Mythe Barn is a wonderful wedding venue with bright and airy rooms that serve as the perfect canvas for any celebration. After a beautiful ceremony, where I most definitely didn’t stifle a little tear, we quickly popped outside to grab some relaxed portraits of the newlyweds.

After a delicious meal and some great speeches, there were a number of terrific & interesting shapes to be thrown on the dance floor.

Below are a few kind words from Sarah, followed by a handful of my favourite images.

Thanks Ian, we are thrilled with all our photos! Thank you so much for all your work:-)

Wedding Photographer in Rochester – Jess & Kierran

Wedding Photographer in Rochester

Despite being based in York, I enjoy working all over the country. Shortly before last Christmas I had the pleasure of working as a Wedding Photographer in Rochester for Jess & Kierran.

It was the sort of celebration that really suited my relaxed documentary approach to wedding photography. There was a wonderful sense of fun, warmth and happiness throughout the day (despite the crisp December air outside). Kierran & Jess had met and developed their relationship in the pub owned by Kierran’s Dad, so it was a place that held great significance for them as a couple and made for a perfect venue for their reception.
